Exhibition: How models shape knowledge
Models shape scientific practice: as teaching aids in the classroom and as tools for research. They illustrate complex relationships, make the invisible visible, and open up new perspectives on scientific knowledge.
The ETH Library’s exhibition vividly demonstrates how models have shaped knowledge since the 19th century—and why, despite digitization, they have remained indispensable tools in research and teaching.
Come and explore more than 500 fascinating teaching and research models from the scientific collections of ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich—many of which are on public display for the first time. Among the exhibits are mathematical plaster and wooden models, crystal formations, anatomical models, and aircraft models from ETH Zurich’s wind tunnel.
